Klipsch's RP-5500F review: Klipsch delivers another classicThe Klipsch R-5500F speaker is high-efficiency and has a rock-solid construction. It produces a wonderful sound, which makes it enjoyable to use in almost all circumstances. It was capable of playing all kinds of content for over 11 hours.

Klipsch's RP-5000F floorstanding speaker is great and looks good. They are also very affordable.
The Klipsch RP-5000F floor speaker is a very affordable and powerful option that produces excellent sound quality across the frequency range. I was impressed with just how much sound you get for your money with the RP-5000F—even when tested against more expensive competitors. This floorstanding speaker is very attractive because of its value to sound.
Klipsch is a stronghold in the home-audio industry since it was founded over 70 years ago. It has the distinction of being the first speaker to be in continuous production continuously for more than 70 years. Although Klipsch has seen a lot of changes since 1946 when the Klipschorn was first patented, some principles have remained constant, like the pursuit for power-efficient designs.
Although the Klipschorn is very different from a floor speaker such as the RP-5500F, the Tractrix Horn still features the same horn-loaded design which allowed Klipsch create an effective sound delivery system. The horn-loaded tweeter design can be found in all Klipsch speakers, including this one. It's part of the reason why Klipsch's RP-5000F delivers such precise, clear audio with very little power.
Although the Klipsch RP-5000F can deliver great sound in a wide range of genres, it does have some weaknesses that I'll discuss later in this section. The RP-5000F's audio quality is so great that it was easy to forget about these issues.

Klipsch RP-5000F floor speakers are moderately sized, measuring in at 36.2x8.2x14.4 inches (HWD). Although it is not small, the Klipsch RP-5000F floorstanding speaker measures 36.2x8.2x14.4 inches (HWD). There are many models that are much larger. It weighs in at 37 pounds and feels as solid as rock. It is evident that this cabinet has been well-constructed.
Cast aluminum feet support the entire speaker and feel solidly assembled. I didn't feel any give or flex while I was setting these up and unpacking them. This build quality is very welcome given its affordable price. The mesh grills are great and they fit perfectly in the entire cabinet. However, the cabinets look much better without them. Its signature black-and copper color scheme makes the room feel luxurious and truly stands out. While some buyers may want to protect their grills from dust, I could not resist.
This build quality is very welcome especially considering the affordable price.
Klipsch describes the 1-inch titanium vented speaker as a tweeter that has a cross-section Tractrix Horn. Two spinn copper cerametallic, 5.25-inch woofers are below this. This pairing, which Klipsch is known for, allows the RP-5000F to reach a 96dB at 2.83V / 1m sensitivity. Lifewire has more information about speaker sensitivity. You can also abbreviate this: A speaker with 96dB sensitivity needs 1 watt of power to produce 96dB sound levels at 1m distance from it. That's quite a bit of sound, but not much.
Klipsch's RP-5000F has a bi-wire and dual binding pin input. You don't have to use two speaker wires for each channel. One set is for the high frequencies, and one is for the low. A single wire can be used. Bi-wiring is hotly debated. I won't get into the middle of the discussion. However, if you are interested in learning more about bi-wiring, the Lifewire primer for bi-wiring speakers will help. You can then go to Wikipedia to learn more about Intermodulation. It would be easier for me to decode alien glyphs but I won't hold my breath.

The Klipsch RP-5500F floor speaker is a great value for money. Its efficiency, of course, makes it easy to achieve a loud, clear sound even without a high-powered amplifier. They are great for movie nights and house parties, with a tight bass that can be heard in all genres. These speakers also had great clarity and character when it came to vocal music. This made the listening experience feel much more real.
It was an absolute pleasure to listen to Emliana Turrini's mostly acoustic album, 'Fisherman's Woman'. Her singing was effortless and she sat at the top of the soundstage. Although the guitar was a bit brighter than other speakers, it still worked well for this album.
However, I'll admit that some of the delicate and fragile tracks they left out, like Nils Frahm’s solo piano album, 'Screws.' Some of the more subtle elements, such as the sounds of the piano's strings being struck by hammers, were difficult to hear. Although this was not the case with every amp and receiver pairing I tested, it showed a weakness in the otherwise amazing performance of the RP-5000F.
The Klipsch RP-5000F's sound was overall very impressive. The Klipsch RP-5000F has so much versatility that I kept finding new music to enjoy. They are worth a listen if you have the chance.

The Klipsch RP-5000F is available for purchase at $434 each speaker or $868 per pair. However, I have seen them for as low as $650 online, which is a great deal. A pair of speakers for that low price is worth it. It's closer to the MSRP, so I would wait it out. The top price range has more competition. There are many other choices between $800 and $1200 like the highly-recommended Q Acoustic 3500i or DALI Oberon 5.
The DALI Oberon 5 floor-standing speaker is another great option. (View on Amazon). This speaker, which comes from the lesser-known yet highly respected Danish company DALI Oberon 5, is compact and very impressive. The Oberon 5 is a compact speaker that hits the same high notes as the Klipsch RP-5500F, but in a smaller size and offers a wider range of colors. The Oberon 5 had a slightly better sound in my testing.
However, the Oberon 5 is more expensive than the Klipsch at $1100 per day. You could also consider the RP-8000F, which weighs 60 lb and has dual 8-inch copper cerametallic woofers. It all comes down to space and your financial budget.
Klipsch's RP-5000F floorstanding speaker is a great value, high quality, and incredibly loud. It is certain to please. Although there are some small issues, the overall value of this speaker is exceptional. Klipsch has maintained its stellar reputation in the world of audio.
