Ylife TWS Bluetooth Earbuds Review: Shockingly Affordable Listening

Ylife TWS Bluetooth Earbuds: Astonishingly Cheap ListeningThe Ylife TWS earbuds offer true wireless earphones at a fraction of the price. They lasted us more than 25 hours, and we were very impressed.

We like this

  • Very reasonable

  • Huge battery storage capacity

  • Strong Bluetooth connectivity

The Things We Hate
  • Unimpressive design

  • Low quality, not satisfying build

  • Lack of additional features

The Ylife TWS earbuds are a great choice for those who want a dependable pair of earbuds with Bluetooth 5.0 and long battery life. These earbuds are worth every penny.

The Ylife TWS Bluetooth Earbuds were purchased by us so that our expert reviewer could fully test it and evaluate it. Continue reading to see our complete product review.

Ylife's TWS Bluetooth 5.0 earbuds, which are not the most flashy on the market but offer some of the highest value for money, might be the best. I'll be honest and say that I know very little about Ylife. However, my research shows that they are primarily associated with the earbuds. I believe that they are a generic, mass-produced device. You might also find them on AliExpress.

This isn't necessarily bad. It's a good option for people who don't have the budget to buy expensive gadgets but don't require a premium brand. After a couple of days of use, I was able to get my hands on the pair from Amazon. This is how it turned out.

Design: Nothing but boring

My biggest complaint about these earbuds is their poor quality. Earbuds are made of all-black and all-glossy plastic, which screams mass production. The earbuds have an outside rubberized button with a circular shape. Through that button you will see the LED indicators lights. The LED indicator lights don't have a regular dot shape. Instead, they are a geometric shape.

Although it is an insignificant detail that can add differentiation to the case, you only see it when the flashing light is on, which is rare. Design-wise, the case doesn't fare much better. The case is about as big as an Altoids Tin. It has a rectangular base made from gray aluminum and buttons on the top. While the plastic is cheap and opaque, the interior is bulky and bulky. Although the battery is quite large, it's not an award-winning design.

Comfort: Easy, yet practical

From a design standpoint, these earbuds look very simple. They look almost like an angled teardrop when held in the eartips. The eartips extend much further into the ear canal of wireless earbuds than other wireless options. Because the rest of the wire extends horizontally, the earbud presses against your ear's top side once it is turned upward. It keeps the earbud secure and more stable than earbuds that rely solely on the tip to hold them in place.

The seal feels a bit too stiff and tight for me because it extends so deep in. The earbuds' plastic back is not as soft as silicone, so it won't feel as natural on the ears as a silicone earwing. The earbuds are really light, so if you get used to the fit (and select the right size of ear tip for you), they could be good for you—they're just a little too tight for me.

My biggest complaint about these earbuds is their poor quality. Earbuds are made of an all-black, glossy plastic which screams mass production.

Build Quality and Durability: Not very premium

Many consumers looking for wireless headphones are willing to pay more for premium products. Bose and Apple are to be commended for their high-quality products. Features like the magnetic cover and luxurious materials make them very easy to use and feel great. The Ylife earbuds do not provide this. It's made of cheap plastic, which makes it feel like it would be at home in toys. The closing clasp is more stiff than magnetic and uses pressure rather than magnets.

There are light magnets that will grab your earbuds as you place them back into the case. However, these magnets won't hold them in one slot. The case didn't close completely when I put them away for the first time. These little details can really ruin an otherwise great pair of earbuds.

Last note: Ylife's earbuds have IPX5 waterproofing. This is a great feature to look for if you plan to wear them while exercising or going out in the rain.

Sound Quality - Reasonable especially considering the price

These earbuds are comparable in sound quality to any wired model, whether it is from Apple or not. The 6mm drivers included (an impressive size for the tiny enclosure) pump a lot of volume—so much so that I actually never need to push them above about two-thirds of max volume.

However, the high output caused some muddiness across the frequency range. The tight seal means that there is more bass than other earbuds. However, you won't hear as much detail in the high-end of the spectrum. The sound lacks warmth, presence and authenticity. The sound is a bit flatter than what I would expect from a pair that gets this loud. These earbuds are perfect for everyday use, whether you want to listen to music or podcasts.

However, the call quality was less than I expected. The microphones picked up more background noise than other earbuds. If you need a telephone call accessory in your earphone set, you will likely have to search elsewhere.

Battery life: This is the most impressive battery I have ever seen.

The manufacturer chose a huge battery case because it is obvious that they are going all out on this battery. If you already have a large case you may as well add a huge battery to it. What size? It has a capacity of 3,500mAh, which I think is the largest for true wireless headphones.

According to Ylife, the earbuds can be charged for 5 hours. This is what I found in my tests. The massive battery on the inside of the headphones claims to be capable of charging the buds up to 18 times. This would give the device a ridiculous 90 hour battery life.

Although I did not come close to this amount, it seemed like my battery was draining faster than expected. Even though the actual capacity is less, these numbers still beat any other options. The battery's size makes it possible to charge your phone using the included USB-A port. It doubles as a charger for your wireless headphones.

Setup and Connectivity: Not as Bad as You Might Expect

The ease with which they can connect is one of the biggest concerns for budget wireless earbuds. Because the earbuds should be set up in pairing mode the moment you take them out, the setup is simple. You can then find them on your Bluetooth menu. Pairing them with a second device is where things become tricky. I had to actually unpair them from my first device to start anew—a fact that's annoying when the Bluetooth 5.0 included on the earbuds is technically supposed to be able to handle two devices.

According to Ylife, the earbuds can be charged for 5 hours. This is what I found in my tests. The massive battery on the inside of the headphones claims to be capable of charging the buds up to 18 times. This would give the device a ridiculous 90 hour battery life.

You can use the push button on each earbud for play/pause, answer calls or dial your voice assistant. The buttons can be too rigid for these earbuds because you have to push the already tight tips into your ears, making it uncomfortable.

No app, no way to automatically pause the music after you remove it from your ears, and certainly no noise cancelling. The connectivity was seamless, with only a couple of stutters. However, this package lacks a lot.

Cost: As Affordable as It Gets

The Ylife earbuds were only $39, shipped from Amazon. It's about the cheapest pair of wireless earbuds you will find, and also one of the most affordable. You can buy a lot better earbuds if you pay more than $100. But, considering that the Ylifes are Bluetooth 5.0 and waterproofing as well as an incredible battery life, it starts to seem like $39 is going a very long way.

Ylife TWS Bluetooth Earbuds vs. Anker soundcore Liberty Air

Anker is another budget-friendly brand that makes wireless earbuds. They look and feel more like AirPods. The Soundcore Liberty Air (available on Amazon for $20-$30 more) offers a better fit and slightly improved sound quality. The battery life of Ylife earbuds is unbeatable. If you're okay with a slightly cheaper build, Ylife is the budget king.

Final Verdict

The Ylife TWS Bluetooth earbuds were a much better choice than I expected. This is partly because my expectations of the price were lower. But with nearly unbeatable battery capacity and a surprisingly solid connection, these earbuds don't actually require a whole lot of expectation-checking. Although they don't sound premium and feel cheap, these earbuds are still a great deal for the price.
